Hi, I'm Sarah.

I have over 18 years’ experience in education as an English and Learning Support teacher, alongside various school leadership roles.

My career spans the state sector, teaching internationally in Singapore and, since returning to the UK, the independent sector.

My interest in neurodiversity began early in my career in a specialist inclusion base, where I developed an appreciation of the importance of responding to individual learning needs.

My values.

Across every setting, my belief has remained the same: students need to feel safe, supported and valued.

I have since built on this experience through a Master’s in Education specialising in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), followed by a Postgraduate Certificate in Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia).

As a parent of two children, I also understands how important it is for families to feel listened to and confident in the support their child receives. These values guide my warm, thoughtful approach to assessing. I listen carefully to each person’s experiences and concerns, helping them feel comfortable and understood throughout the process. I combine my specialist knowledge with extensive teaching experience to explore strengths as well as difficulties and provide practical recommendations for education, work and everyday life.

I look forward to supporting you.

Full Diagnostic Dyslexia Assessment

£500 plus travel, where applicable

A free, no-obligation phone consultation offers an opportunity to discuss your concerns and whether assessment would be helpful.

Questionnaires are sent to gather information about developmental and educational history, current strengths and challenges and other relevant background. For children and young people, these are sent to parents/carers and the school’s SENDCo. Relevant previous assessment reports are also reviewed.

Assessment takes approximately 3-3.5 hours, usually across two sessions. It can take place at home, school or work, wherever is most comfortable. Following the assessment, a clear, comprehensive report outlines the individual’s learning profile, strengths and areas of difficulty in relation to their other abilities and age expectations. It confirms whether dyslexia, a specific learning difficulty (SpLD), is identified and provides personalised recommendations for support. Sarah follows this up with an in-person or virtual meeting to discuss the findings, answer questions and consider next steps. Specialist teaching and study skills support can be arranged separately, if requested.

What is dyslexia?

Dyslexia is a specific learning difference that primarily affects the development of reading and spelling. It most commonly involves difficulties with phonological processing — recognising, remembering and working with speech sounds.

The British Dyslexia Association estimates that around 1 in 10 people in the UK have dyslexia. It varies from person to person, meaning its signs are not always easy to recognise.

People with dyslexia may find the following challenging:

  • Learning and applying phonics (linking letters/letter patterns to sounds)
  • Reading accurately and fluently
  • Understanding text when reading is effortful
  • Learning and recalling spellings
  • Handwriting pace
  • Planning and organising written work
  • Holding information in mind while using it (working memory)
  • Remembering instructions
  • Processing information quickly
  • Organising tasks and managing time

Not everyone will experience all these challenges. Dyslexia can also affect confidence and self-esteem, particularly when difficulties are overlooked or misunderstood. Recognising strengths and providing encouragement and appropriate support can make a positive difference.

A different way of thinking

In the UK, the Delphi definition of dyslexia (2025) is used in diagnostic assessments to identify dyslexia. Adopted by the British Dyslexia Association, it reflects expert agreement on the nature of dyslexia and how it varies between individuals.

The Definition

Dyslexia is a set of processing difficulties that affect the acquisition of reading and spelling.

In dyslexia, some or all aspects of literacy attainment are weak in relation to age, standard teaching and instruction, and level of other attainments.

Across all languages, difficulties in reading fluency and spelling are key markers of dyslexia.

Dyslexic difficulties exist on a continuum and can be experienced to various degrees of severity.

The nature and developmental trajectory of dyslexia depends on multiple genetic and environmental influences.

Dyslexia can affect the acquisition of other skills, such as mathematics, reading comprehension or learning another language.

The most commonly observed cognitive impairment in dyslexia is a difficulty in phonological processing (i.e., in phonological awareness, phonological processing speed or phonological memory). However, phonological difficulties do not fully explain the variability that is observed.

Working memory, processing speed and orthographic skills can contribute to the impact of dyslexia.

Dyslexia frequently co-occurs with one or more other developmental difficulties, including developmental language disorder, dyscalculia, ADHD, and developmental coordination disorder.

The Delphi definition

Dyslexia can bring different ways of thinking and valuable individual strengths. So much so that GCHQ, the UK’s intelligence and cyber security agency, actively recruits dyslexic people for their ability to spot patterns, see the bigger picture and approach problems differently.

The well-known individuals below share what they value about being dyslexic and how it has shaped their lives:

Mollie King, singer and radio presenter

I do think that for people who are dyslexic, there is something where we just have that drive inside of us. I don’t know whether it’s because we’re used to having to work that little bit harder but everyone who I’ve ever met who is dyslexic always has that fire in their belly and they always want to strive to succeed.

There are so many positives about being dyslexic; it’s just about finding what your

strength is.

Richard Brandson, entrepreneur and founder of the Virgin Group

Dyslexia isn’t a disadvantage – it’s a superpower...The world needs to realise that skills inherent to dyslexic people (such as problem solving, creativity, adaptability, and communication) are the most sought-after in every job sector across the globe.

Orlando Bloom, actor

If you have kids who are struggling with dyslexia, the greatest gift you can give them is the sense that nothing is unattainable. With dyslexia comes a very great gift, which is the way that your mind can think creatively.

What clients say...

A huge thank you to Sarah at Endeavour for the dyslexia assessment and report for my daughter. I found the whole process stress-free from start to finish. She put my daughter at ease with her knowledge and caring nature. Sarah was very informative from the beginning - she gave me a call and explained the whole process before I committed to any testing. She was extremely thorough & professional throughout the process. It took me a while to get information from various schools but Sarah was both patient and helpful. Her report is detailed, personal, and complete with practical learning strategies and recommendations that will help my daughter cope and thrive. Endeavour Dyslexia Services has provided a positive experience for us and it has already improved my daughter’s confidence and attitude towards her learning. I would happily recommend to others. Many thanks.

Year 12 parent.

We can’t thank Sarah enough for the report she has produced for our son. It is thorough, professional and truly reflects the strengths and challenges his dyslexia presents. Thorough testing and use of the information given by us, his school and my son himself mean that her report is highly personal. I believe her recommendations for approaches to learning will be pivotal to enabling him to achieve his full potential. Her naturally caring demeanour has made this process easy, stress free and a positive experience for us all.
